Our first LBJ100 and we were very impressed with the route, support, food and drink, and especially the gracious hospitality of Luci. For those that had criticisms, I only second the one about a staggered start. Many probably don't know how well this ride is organized and supported - I've seen many that collect more money and let you fend for yourselves. I thought the signage was good - please don't spoil the country roads with paint!

2012 was the best LBJ 100 yet! Perfect weather and beautiful flowers. I suggest staggering the starting groups a bit more to avoid the bottle neck at the Ranch House. Thanks for the great Rest Stops and the ease of parking!

Participated in this event every year since the first. Always a great way to start the cycling season! Many others are beginning to notice the appeal of the route as noticed in the increase in participation. SO you have a great problem to have but one that could turn riders away if not addressed.
1. start groups in waves in the AM
2. completely cover all cattle guards on property (they are bad enough in dry weather but when wet they become slick as ice)
3. Consider another route to the finish line and/or moving the finish line elsewhere on property. This year was worst than last. Having to make a u-turn and come back against traffic (foot, cycle and auto) after finishing will only get worse and more dangerous the more popular this event gets.
4. consider another exit strategy for auto traffic. after ride auto exit runs right through #3
5. good signage on the route but also paint the turns on the roads and provide signage after each turn (within a 1/4 mile) that tells you if you missed a turn.

the ride was awsome. beautiful day, beautiful scenery. the volunteers were so nice at the stops. we did not stay for the food at the finish since we were not too happy last year but we got great feedback from friends, especially those vegetarians!! so we will stay next year : ) suggestions; coming in the morning took a loooong time to park and there were not enough port a pottys. we were leaving our cars and running to go potty only to get there to a VERY long line. guess everyone needs to go after an hour(s) in the car! and the peanut butter, could you guys invest a few more pennies to get peanut butter that does not have high fructose corn syrup?? other than that it was a great ride. and we will come back for our 4th year in 2013!!

First timer and thought it was very well done (had a late start so missed the "bottleneck"). Thanks for putting it together!

My friends and i from Houston enjoyed the ride as well as the beautiful scenery. We look forward to returning next year. Our biggest disappointed was not receiving our shirts. We registered in advance but when we arrived you were out of shirts our size. In the future, every effort should be made to provide those who registered early with a shirt in the size requested.

Only negative is the start. It is just way too crowded to have us ride on the small road that goes in front of the house. Plus having to deal with that cattle guard in front of the house as well creates a big bottleneck and potentially dangerous situation. Like a previous poster said, send people out in waves or have us exit the ranch on another wider road. The starts are so bad that this year I parked at the visitor center and skipped the start and joined up with the group as it passed. Other than that the ride is very well supported and a ride that I will continue to do.

I enjoyed the LBJ 100 Bike Tour this year, my first. The parking on the runway worked well, the rest stops were well spaced, staffed and supplied, and the maps were well done. The food and drink at the finish was great. I did see a number of photographers at the start and finish, and with the bib number stickers, I’m wondering if the bike tour was captured by a photo firm and if the pictures will be available at a later date. Good job, well done. I’ll be back next year.

We participated in the ride yesterday, and it was our second time to do so. We love the route, and the wildflowers were beautiful! I'd like to express my dissatisfaction, however, with the fact that even though we registered in FEBRUARY, when we tried to pick up our packets and tee shirts yesterday morning at the event, you were out of both. On the website, I think it said that if registration occured that early, getting a tee shirt shouldn't be a problem. They are really nice looking shirts, so we were disappointed!

Also, having ridden in some bigger rides, like the MS ride out of San Antonio, we would suggest that at the start next year, you let the riders off in waves to speed things up and make it safer. The ride is getting too large to start everyone at the same time. After we finally got going, however, everything else was so smooth!

Hope to see you all next year
